From Pax Americana to a Multipolar Order
As part of the Belgrade School of Geopolitics, on 14 May, Prof. Dr. Dušan Proroković spoke about the transformation of the international order—from the period of American dominance after the Cold War to today's increasingly multipolar world. The lecture focused on changes in the distribution of global power, with particular emphasis on the role of great powers, military expenditures, economic indicators, the rise of China, the position of Russia, and shifts in the balance of power among NATO, BRICS, the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), and the European Union. Using comparative data on military, economic, and institutional power, the lecture illustrated how the structure of the world order is gradually changing and how former unipolarity is giving way to a more complex system of international relations.
